Taking full advantage of three home games to start off the season, Georgetown Prep has been spectacular thus far. Ranked 31st in the DigitalSports National Lacrosse Rankings, the Hoyas first defeated Middleburg Academy 16-3, followed by St. John’s 11-4.
Most recently, Georgetown faced off against 20th ranked St. Paul’s. Last year, the Crusaders defeated the Hoyas 10-7, but this year, Georgetown did not let history repeat itself.
The Hoyas got to work early, winning the first quarter 2-0. In the second quarter, St. Paul’s finally found a way to score, but they still could not stop Georgetown’s offense. Prep went into halftime with a 6-3 lead.
In the third quarter, things evened out for a little. The two teams split four goals to enter the fourth quarter 8-5, Georgetown leading. The Hoyas controlled the fourth, netting three goals, only allowing one, and working the clock through long possessions of controlled lacrosse. By the final whistle, Georgetown led 11-6.
Advancing to 3-0, the undefeated Hoyas will be looking to work their way up the rankings. Georgetown next faces Calverton on March 18.
