The Georgetown Prep Hoyas traveled down Connecticut Ave. for their match-up against the St. John’s Cadets for their season opener. The Hoyas are looking to build upon last year’s record, where they finished (15-6).
The Cadets opened the game with force, taking an early 3-1 lead in the first quarter. The Hoyas did not give up, as they were able to fight back and keep the game close. It remained close up until the last minutes of the game when the Hoyas scored six times in a five minute span.
Georgetown Prep ultimately won 13-7. The Hoyas definitely had some outstanding play from junior midfielder Brendan Collins and face-off specialist, Jack Olsen, to keep them in the game.
The Hoyas, currently ranked in DigitalSports’ Top 50 National Lacrosse Rankings, faces off against three of the top five teams in the country to start the season. Some of these teams include: Gilman, Paul VI, and St. Paul’s.
